Sugar Point’s (Barbados) new website is up, including a series of illustrations of the new cruise port, which will feature homeporting and port-of-call facilities.
The development team is lead by SMI Infrastructure Solutions, partnering with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Global Destinations.
Key to the Sugar Point project is said to be the expansion of economic and social impacts to Island. According to the developers, the project allows for, over time, an expanded operational base from which cruise operations can grow, inclusive of cruise homeporting activities.
The developers also said that Sugar Point is committed to delivering direct economic benefit to local Barbadians and small business owners. The upland portions of the project will be subdivided into several different development opportunities, allows a variety of investors, owners and business proprietors to be involved.
In addition, Sugar Point promises to expand the breadth of cultural facilities available to residents and island visitors. From the Bajan Cultural Village to the Rum and Sugar Museum, residents and visitors have an expanded number of venues to connect to the past, present and future of Barbadian culture and creativity.
