The event focused on the importance of protecting the world’s oceans and included presentations on Why Oceans Matter and Protecting Deep Sea Corals: The West Coast’s Forgotten Treasures, as well as showcased the recently released “Our Marvelous Oceans” video series which airs on Holland America Line ships.

Dan Grausz, executive vice president, fleet operations, Holland America Line, and Dr. Lance Morgan, president and chief executive officer, Marine Conservation Institute, co-hosted the event.

Holland America Line’s partnership with Washington state–based Marine Conservation Institute supports “Our Marvelous Oceans,” a three-year program announced in 2010 that commits to exclusively using sustainably sourced seafood on Holland America Line's menus, guest and staff education that features the “Our Marvelous Oceans” video series, and support for critical marine conservation biology research through Marine Conservation Institute’s Mia J. Tegner Memorial Research Grants to support graduate students and young scientists working in historical marine ecology.
