WMS Signs Contract with Oceanic Group

Wireless Maritime Services (WMS), a leader in providing cellular service to the cruise line and ferry industry, is pleased to announce a further expansion of their business in the Asia/Pacific region with the launch of wireless services onboard the Oriental Dragon cruise ship. This follows the signing of a multi-year agreement with Singapore-based Oceanic Group.

Starting from today, passengers and crew on The Oriental Dragon can stay connected with friends and families while cruising to various destinations in Asia. WMS services allow them to make and receive telephone calls, send text messages, access emails and surf the internet while at sea at rates similar to international roaming.

“We are very happy that we now have the right mobile services partner in Wireless Maritime Services. WMS is clearly the strongest player in this industry, especially in the Asia/Pacific region, and we are confident that, with their help, we are providing the highest quality and most reliable service to our cruise passengers and crew” Daniel Chui, Oceanic Group Managing Director, said yesterday.

Mr. Jim McKenna, Vice President of Customer Support and Product Management for WMS, added, “We are delighted to be partnering with The Oceanic Group, a leading cruise ship manager in Asia, with a well-established business and exciting growth prospects. Higher than expected uptake of our services aboard the Star Cruises fleet has alreadyproven that Asian travelers truly value the ability to keep in touch with friends and relatives while travelling at sea. The Oriental Dragon now becomes the newest Asian cruise ship to offer this important benefit to travelers. Our unique advantage in having a roaming agreement with China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile phone operator, was instrumental in enabling us to win the contract with The Oceanic Group. We will continue working hard to expand our voice and data roaming coverage in Asia so as to provide a continuingly improving service for travelersthere.”
