According to local reports, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has said that she will expand the number of promised cruise berths at Sydney’s Garden Island naval base to big cruise ships, thus alleviating cruise congestion in Sydney.
Gillard added that a plan is being prepared to meet the long term needs of the cruise business. For now, the Australian navy will allow three ships this coming season, and another three for 2013/2014.
