MSC Closer to Taking Over Libyan Ship

While it was always speculated that Libyan-ordered cruise ship being built at STX France would eventually be operated by MSC Cruises, as she looks like a mirror-image of the Fantasia-class, the ship now even sports the MSC logo on is funnel, according to photos posted on various sites.

STX France executives would only say that negotiations are ongoing seeking an owner and operator for the 140,000-ton, 3,400-passenger ship, which was abandoned by its former owner, the Libyan shipping company GNMTC, whose fate is unknown.

STX France cancelled the contract last summer for lack of payment. The ship was originally scheduled to be delivered at the end of 2012.
