In the first semester of 2007 the Port of Málaga has finished with spectacular results, because of the movement of freights and cruise passengers, which has gone up a lot in relation to the same period of last year.

In this way, the Port of Málaga becomes the Spanish port that has grown the most during the first half of this year, due to the increase of the total traffic in a 20.77%.

Compared to the same period of last year, the following results are noteworthy: regarding cruise passenger traffic, the increase is of 18.42% with 102,999 passengers. These figures reveal the importance of the Port of Málaga in this field, maintaining its position as the second peninsular port in cruise traffic.

The results of the first semester of 2007 shows that container traffic has increased a 46.72% with respect to last year. This fact means that the figures have risen more than other Spanish ports, being the fifth Spanish port in container traffic over port of Bilbao.

Moreover, a total of 18,510 vehicles have been unloaded in the Port of Málaga. In spite of being a very new kind of traffic in this city is stablishing as one of the most important also with a good prospect inside the port facilities.

Undoubtly, the great activity generated by the port since January to June augurs that the results will enable to exceed the figures processed in 2006: bulk traffic has historically been quite higher in second half of the year and, furthermore, the city will become in home port for cruises during this year.
