Candib Promoted to VP Port and Destination Dev. and Operations at Carnival Corp

Carnival Corporation & plc has promoted David Candib from director of business development to vice president of port and destination development and operations in an expansion of the Port and Destination Development Division.

Over the past decade, Candib has participated in a number of projects in the Caribbean, including the St. Maarten port expansion and Mystic Mountain attraction in Jamaica, and was responsible for commercial and retail tenant relations in Carnival’s three ports and destinations in the region. For the past year Candib has been responsible for Grand Turk Cruise Center operations and development, and the new port project near Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, as well as relations with regional ports under corporate contracts.

Candib’s new responsibilities include oversight of all Miami-based corporate port operations, areas of new port development and the corporation’s port reservation system — a Web-based reservation system for ports in the Caribbean and North America under corporate contract.

The promotion is part of an expansion of the Port and Destination Development Division. Renamed the Global Port and Destination Development Group and headed by Giora Israel, senior vice president of global port developments, the division is expanding its scope to include Europe and the Mediterranean.

Based at the corporation’s Miami headquarters, the division primarily has been engaged in strategic port developments in the Caribbean and the Americas during the past decade.

Israel will oversee all operations of the Global Port and Destination Development Group and creation of a United Kingdom office for strategic port development projects in Europe and the Mediterranean.
