TUI Promotes Ocean and River Cruises

TUI Cruises is gearing up for a road show in Germany for its ocean and river products, starting Sept. 20, holding breakfast seminars for travel agents. Starting in Munich, TUI will spend three weeks hosting agents in 20 different German cities, including Stuttgart, Mannheim, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hanover, Kiel and Hamburg.

“Together with TUI river cruises, we have the opportunity to present two very different forms of cruises to travel agents,” said Udo Lutz, senior head of sales for TUI Cruises. “Whether travelers prefer ocean or river cruises, our travel agent partners benefit from TUI being strong on the oceans and rivers,” added Andreas Casdorff, head of TUI’s river cruise division. The seminars will highlight the 2012/2013 season and the brands’ selling points.

TUI Cruises is a joint venture between TUI and Royal Caribbean Cruises. TUI Germany claims to have market share of more than 20 percent of the German market. TUI Germany is in turn a 100 percent subsidiary of TUI Travel PLC, said to be the world’s largest travel company, with a presence in 180 countries and serving more than 30 million customers a year.  TUI Travel is listed on the London stock exchange.

In addition to the two-ship ocean fleet, TUI’s new product line introduced this year is river cruises with 167 departures on six chartered vessels on the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube.
