Lloyd’s Register is offering a two-day training course covering the ILO Maritime Labor Convention, July 6 and 7, 2011, at its center in Plantation Florida. The cost is $1,000.
Through presentations, discussions, case studies and exercises, the course will cover the content of the convention and its implementation onboard. It will also teach how to conduct reviews for implementation and compliance, as well as dealing with seafarers’ complaints. The course will also summarize national legislation and international guidelines and standards relevant to the labor convention.
According to LR, the course is targeted to ship managers, personnel and crew managers, technical superintendents, masters and ships’ officers.
Ratification of the Maritime Labor Convention is expected to be completed later this year or early next year, with implementation being phased in starting 12 months after ratification.
