As originally reported by Cruise Industry News in February, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is reportedlywell along the way in negotiations for a two-ship newbuild order.
The potential new ships are supposedly in the 100,000-ton range.
However, the strong Japanese Yen exchange rate could make negotiations difficult.
The new contract is expected to be signed this summer, according to Japanese reports, which cite Mitsubishi sources.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries last built the Diamond and Sapphire Princess ships almost a decade ago, and before that, the Crystal Harmony, which now sails for Japan-based NYK Cruises as the Asuka II.
