New Marine Industry Cares Foundation Helps Local Charity With Spin-A-Thon

The Marine Industry Cares Foundation is a new non-profit organization founded by marine industry leaders who desire to make a difference in their local community. Directors Mole Telfer, David Reed, Sabrina Farmer and Peter Hult officially launch the Marine Industry Cares Foundation with the 3rd annual Spin-A-Thon, a fundraising event for KID.

All proceeds from the stationary bike, team-relay event benefit KID, a leading force in the prevention of child abuse.

“We saw great enthusiasm in the marine industry for helping local causes, which provided us with an opportunity to build a bridge between the maritime community and local charities benefitting children and families,” said Peter Hult, Vice President of MHG Insurance Brokers.

The inaugural Spin-A-Thon and its’ successor provided abused and neglected children with over $100,000. This year, Marine Industry Cares Foundation plans to triple the involvement and raise over $250,000 for KID.

“The response over the years has been huge and is what led us to form our foundation,” said Marine Industry Cares Foundation Chairman and President Mole Telfer. “The Spin-A-Thon is symbolic of what Marine Industry Cares Foundation is all about.”

On May 6th, from 1-7 p.m., teams will ride in the 3rd annual Spin-A-Thon. After the wheels stop spinning, 6-10 p.m., participants are invited to a thank you party to celebrate the positive impact made for children in need.

“It’s amazing to me how much care and dedication this group has toward the children we serve,” said Lea Kuhry, Special Events Manager at KID. “The children we care for are the responsibility of the entire community and the money raised through the Spin-A-Thon will directly and positively impact many young children’s lives.”
