Mazatlan Calls Resume Without Disney

Following a security meeting among cruise line officials in Mazatlan (first reported here on Cruise Industry News) earlier this week that was organized by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association, Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line and Norwegian Cruise Line have resumed calls to the port.

“As of now we plan to call there this week and will continue to monitor the situation there closely,” said a spokeperson at Holland America.

According to local sources, Mazatlan has dramatically increased security. Port officials did not speak with Cruise Industry News.

However, Disney Cruise Line did drop Mazatlan following three incidents with cruise passengers and will not add it back. The Disney Wonder heads to Alaska this summer and repositions to Los Angeles this fall for Mexican Riviera cruises, it is unclear whether Disney will add the call back this fall.
