Blount Announces New Cruise Itineraries for 2011

Blount Small Ship Adventures has expanded its menu of cruise options for 2011 with the addition of two new cruise itineraries.  Both extraordinary voyages will immerse travelers in the history, culture and charms of the American south.

Beginning in historic Baltimore, “Charming Chesapeake Bay” is an 11-day adventure through the towns and ports of coastal Maryland and Virginia. Travelers will delight in visits to idyllic Annapolis and colorful Alexandria, VA, while admiring the rocky shores of the Chesapeake from the unique perspective of a small ship.  History buffs will enjoy optional excursions to Colonial Williamsburg or Mount Vernon, George Washington’s stunning plantation home. The venture is enriched by an onboard wine tasting, local music and entertainment, a guest lecture from a regional historian and a lesson in “crab-picking” for Maryland’s mouth-watering blue crabs.

Travelers on “Cultures and Traditions: Charleston to the Chesapeake” will spend 10 days enjoying the spectacular views and cultural treasures of the east coast. The excursion begins in Charleston, SC, a quintessential southern city with antebellum charm and modern attractions. Port visits include the relaxed beach town of Wilmington, NC, and vibrant Norfolk, VA, nestled in a natural harbor at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, before concluding in history-rich Philadelphia. Onboard music and historical lectures, an interactive drawing demonstration by a local artist and a cocktail hour featuring regional wines enhance the cruise experience.

“We are thrilled to be offering these exciting new cruise itineraries,” said Nancy Blount, President of Blount Small Ship Adventures. “We strive to continually offer a wide selection of destinations and activities, and these two adventures really highlight some of our country’s most beautiful and historic sites in a unique and fun cruise experience.”
