Amsterdam Expects Record Year 2011

Amsterdam expects 120 cruise ships in port in 2011, with an estimated 250,000 passengers. The previous record was set in 2008 with 117 ships and 227,000 passengers.

Next year, there are scheduled 65 transit calls and 55 turn-arounds. Costa, Holland America Line, MSC and Celebrity will use Amsterdam as a homeport. AIDA is increasing the number of overnight calls from seven to 16.

Next April, the AIDAsol will be welcomed as the 1,000th cruise ship in Amsterdam.

Maiden calls for 2011 include the AIDAcara, AIDAsol, Norwegian Sun, Sea Cloud, Costa Deliziosa, Hanseatic, Artania, Dawn Princess and Oceania Marina.
