Celebrity Cancels Century Sailing Due to Rudder Damage

Celebrity Cruises has cancelled a sailing on its 71,545-ton Century due to rudder damage.

The ship, which was originally launched in 1995, departed on a 12-day cruise October 13 before Celebrity notified passengers during a scheduled call in Villefranche, France on October 14 that the cruise would not be continuing. Passengers can stay onboard until Saturday October 16 as the ship will have to dry-dock to repair the damage before its next revenue sailing on October 25.

Celebrity is refunding passengers their full cruise fare and offering a future cruise credit at 25 percent of their current fare.

The damage was found by a dive team, it is not clear how the rudder was damaged at this time.
