Cannes Welcomes 7,000 Pax in One Day

The port of Cannes welcomed the Independence of the Seas and the Crown Princess on Friday, June 11, with a combined total of more than 7,000 passengers.

Joining forces, the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Port of Cannes, the French Riviera Cruise Club, the Cannes Tourism and Convention Office and the Meynadier/Forville shopkeepers association organized a promotional campaign among retailers in Cannes to welcome the passengers.

According to a spokesperson, the goals of the campaign were to encourage passengers to explore the shops in the center of Cannes; to make them feel welcome with special offers and discounts; and to encourage return visits for longer stays ashore.

Shopkeepers taking part in this campaign presented passengers with special offers distributed from a stand set up especially for the occasion by the Cannes Tourism and Convention Office in the Port of Cannes.

Cruise passengers were also greeted with music, and were invited throughout their visit to Cannes to sample local produce, try their hand at petanque and have their photo taken on the famous red carpet of the Palais des Festivals.
