Andrea Zito, formerly Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of V.Ships Leisure effective 1st April 2010. As part of the same announcement, V.Ships Leisure confirms that Lorenzo Malvarosa, formerly CEO, has been appointed Chairman.
Roberto Giorgi, President of V.Ships commented: “on behalf of the Board, I am delighted to have Andrea leading V.Ships Leisure. He has wide experience in cruise and ferry shipping and I am certain that, together with the rest of the team, he will continue to maintain V.Ships Leisure’s leading position in the passenger shipping industry and continue its development.”
Andrea, who joined the group as COO of V.Ships Leisure in 2005 through the acquisition of Martinoli Shipmanagement, where he was a shareholder, has an MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and wide experience from the offshore and shipping industries. He commented: “I am very honoured by the trust given to me and I am confident that with the support of my knowledgeable colleagues we will accomplish excellent results.”
Lorenzo is well known in the industry and has held various positions in V.Ships since 1989. He stated: “Whilst I am very happy to hand over give the daily operational responsibilities to Andrea, I also look forward to continuing to contribute to our business from a different perspective and to stay in close contact with our team and key customers.”
