| A Champion-Ship with Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises |
| Monday, 08 March 2010 |
Love it or hate it, the beautiful game is going to be hard to escape this summer. The football World Cup is only a matter of months away and while the majority of the British male population are rejoicing, the majority of women are trying to escape. Accordingly, Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises are offering their customers the best of both worlds throughout this summer’s tournament in South Africa. The sister Cruise Lines have come up with the perfect solution to every couple’s needs during the event. For the football fans, all ships in the Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises fleet will air every England game for the duration of the campaign. From the first round (and hopefully straight through to the finals…), Thomson Dream, Thomson Celebration, Thomson Spirit, Thomson Destiny and the Island Escape will show the games live on big screens in specially allocated areas of the ship. Fans will be able to comfortably watch the England games with a favourite tipple in hand whilst sailing on to the next port. And if the England games aren't exciting enough, the cruise lines have also elected to screen selected Brazil and Spain games too. Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises understand that football is very much a game of two halves and not for everyone, so to ensure that all its passengers enjoy a fantastic holiday, the ships will be tailoring a programme of activities and entertainment for the game times and beyond. Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises will also be offering great deals on a selection of treatments for special pampering at the onboard spas while the ‘soccerholics’ are otherwise occupied - the perfect opportunity for a bit of 'me' time. “The fact that Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises are showing the world cup games while at sea shouldn’t detract from the great cruise experience passengers will enjoy this summer,” said David Selby, Managing Director - Thomson Cruises and Island Cruises. “It’s important to remember that the games will only take up a couple of hours a day once or twice a week on a seven day itinerary. This means that the rest of the time our passengers can enjoy all that the cruise ships have to offer, such as world-class entertainment or a quality food and beverage offering, as well as the chance to spend time in one of the many fantastic ports of call.” Thomson Cruises offer a seven night Highlights of the Aegean cruise onboard Thomson Celebration on a half board basis from just £839 per person, based on two adults sharing and with return flights departing Luton or London Gatwick on 28 June 2010. Island Cruises offer a seven night Med Spirit cruise onboard Island Escape on a half board basis from just £719 per person, based on two adults sharing and with return flights departing Luton or London Gatwick on 10 June 2010. |
