New Orleans: Hazard Mitigation Planning

The Port of New Orleans will hold a meeting to discuss its Hazard Mitigation Plan on Tuesday October 27th at 2 p.m. in the Port Auditorium, 1350 Port of New Orleans Place.

The purpose of this Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) is to reduce or eliminate long-term risk posed by hazards to life and property at the Port of New Orleans. The plan identifies and assesses risks for the hazards that threaten the Port of New Orleans, assess vulnerabilities, formulates a mitigation plan with strategies to reduce the impact of future hazards, and proposes an action plan to implement mitigation strategies.

Members of the public, maritime stakeholders and other interested parties are invited to attend the meeting, which will present the final draft of the Port’s Hazard Mitigation plan. The plan is available on the Port’s website at www.portno.com.

Comments about the plan can be submitted until Nov. 13th to Deborah D. Keller, Director of Port Development, Port of New Orleans, P.O. Box 60046, New Orleans, La. 70160 or to kellerd@portno.com.
