On Waves Renews Contract with MSC Cruises

On Waves Ehf, the leading maritime mobile services provider, has announced that it has renewed a fleet-wide contract that covers all MSC Cruises ships.

The agreement covers 10 vessels, including the newest MSC Splendida and will include additional vessels in the future. On Waves services will enable voice, SMS and Data connectivity so far not covered by terrestrial networks areas on the open seas. Further, On Waves services will include crew calling pre-paid cards and live onboard-generated information for passengers.

“This major agreement is a milestone in the industry, and we are very proud to participate by offering our maritime GSM services to the passengers and crew of MSC Cruises”, said Constantin Simeonidis, CEO for On Waves. “To have renewed the trust of an organization like MSC, which operates in several countries in Europe and in the U.S. is a great endorsement of the reliability of our maritime GSM services, and we are honored to participate into MSC Cruises commitment to bring the best of the mobile technology to their guests”.

Emilio La Scala, general manager of MSC Cruises, said that maritime GSM services from On Waves has become an essential part of the company’s electronic communications inventory, particularly with the growing demand by passengers requiring reliable, fast communication. He said the fleet installation that took place last year had proven to be a great success, particularly because of the ease of use and availability of telephony, data and SMS facilities for passengers and crew.
