Waterford Welcomes First RCC Ship

The Port of Waterford will be welcoming the Azamara Journey this year, the first time a Royal Caribbean brand has called at the port, Harbormaster Captain Philip Cowman told Cruise Industry News.

She will be calling in August, as part of a roundtrip sailing from Copenhagen.

Waterford is making an effort to target more “upscale, premium vessels,” and hopes to surpass 13,000 passengers, which was its maximum in 2004, Cowman said, adding that “since 2007, there has been a dip in traffic.” The port expects fewer than 7,000 passengers this year.
