Introducing Shorter Cruises in Europe

North American-based cruise lines are working to build up more European business through more shorter cruises, introducing their products in Europe. Royal Caribbean will sail the Vision of the Seas on more than 30 short cruises out of Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Harwich in 2009, compared to 10 last year aboard the Jewel of the Seas.

Holland America will be offering short cruises on the Eurodam from Amsterdam. Copenhagen and Dover.

In addition, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises are dedicating ships to the UK again this summer, with the Independence of the Seas returning and the Grand Princess replacing the Sea Princess out of Southampton. Royal Caribbean and NCL are also sailing year-round in the Mediterranean.

Among European operators, AIDa Cruises is offering short cruise programs in the Mediterranean and in Northern Europe this summer.
