Hurricane Paloma: Cayman Islands Prepares, Disney Moves Magic

Hurricane Paloma was expected to make landfall in the Cayman Islands late Friday or early Saturday as a Category 1 storm. Officials in Grand Cayman told Cruise Industry News that residents were preparing for the storm.

The storm forced Disney Cruise Line to change the itinerary of the Disney Magic, scheduled to leave Port Canaveral Saturday. The ship will head west rather than visit the Eastern Caribbean. Costa Maya will replace a scheduled day at sea; Cozumel and Grand Cayman replace St. Maarten and St. Thomas.

Royal Caribbean International and Carnival Cruise Lines did not immediately report any changes.
