Seabourn Opts for Innovative Mobile Infotainment Solution of Lufthansa Systems

The Yachts of Seabourn, the world’s most celebrated cruise line has selected Lufthansa Systems to install a fully featured IPTV solution on three of its new ultra luxurious vessels over the next three years.

The solution is based on the innovative fully digital mobile infotainment solution, which Lufthansa System has developed for the cruise ship industry. It will give the guests on-board of the Seabourn vessels an unprecedented choice of high definition quality entertainment and communications.”We have chosen Lufthansa Systems as a partner, because they provide the most advanced solution in the market. It will add technological enhancement to the outstanding travel experience our brand stands for,” said Pamela C. Conover, President and CEO of The Yachts of Seabourn.

Interactive television (iTV) allows Seabourn to offer its guests a wide variety of functionality for accessing customer and vessel information, browsing the daily program and news, shopping and in-suite entertainment. Internet based Television (IPTV), makes it possible for guests to select and view a wide selection of live TV programs, which are fed digitally into the IP-network of the ships. The system also has capabilities to offer video and audio on demand from libraries, as well as allowing guests to purchase shore excursions.

This bundling of numerous communication and entertainment channels in a single converged system creates a uniform look and feel and offers passengers an extraordinary entertainment and state-of-the-art information experience. “We are honored to add The Yachts of Seabourn, a brand of Carnival Corporation & plc, to the growing list of customers for our mobile infotainment solution,” said Dr. Hannes Pfister, Senior Vice President Infrastructure Services at Lufthansa Systems. “Passenger response at other customers has been overwhelmingly positive. At the same time, the system supports on-board business processes and eases the daily workload on the crew and service personnel by remote operation and service by Lufthansa Systems.”
