Storms Alter Cruise Itineraries in Caribbean and Northeast

Hurricane Ike and Tropical Storm Hanna upended cruise schedules for Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean International this weekend, changing Caribbean and North Eastern U.S. itineraries.

Stormy weather from Hanna changed the Carnival Victory’s voyage from New York that left Saturday. The Victory spent Sunday in Boston rather than at sea before continuing to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas revised its itinerary after departing the Port of Norfolk on Sept. 4. The rearranged order of port calls will include Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sunday; St. John (Bay of Fundy), Monday; at sea Tuesday, and Boston, Wednesday. The ship will return to Norfolk Friday, September 12, as scheduled.

NCL reported no changed itineraries from New York over the weekend.

Hurricane Ike also changed several itineraries for Carnival and Royal Caribbean:

From Miami, The Carnival Liberty spent Sunday at sea rather than the planned stop at Half Moon Cay. It will call at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Isla Roatan, canceling calls at St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk.

The Majesty of the Seas departed Miami on Friday and sailed a revised itinerary, omitting Coco Cay on Saturday. Instead it visited Nassau and spent Sunday at sea.

The Liberty of the Seas departed Miami Saturday and changed the order of its normal ports of call. The ship will visit Cozumel, Monday; George Town, Cayman Islands, Tuesday; Ocho Rios, Wednesday; and Labadee, Thursday.

The Freedom of the Seas departed Miami on Sunday. The ship will not visit San Juan on Tuesday. Instead, it will be at sea Tuesday; visit Charlotte Amalie on Wednesday; Philipsburg, Thursday; and be at sea Friday and Saturday.

From Port Everglades, the Enchantment of the Seas will not visit George Town, Cayman Islands, Tuesday. Instead, the ship will visit Cozumel on Monday, and be at sea Tuesday and Wednesday.

From Port Canaveral, the Mariner of the Seas will not visit Ocho Rios on Wednesday. Instead, the ship will visit Labadee, Tuesday; Montego Bay, Wednesday; George Town, Grand Cayman, Thursday; Cozumel, Friday; and at be at sea Saturday.

The Carnival Sensation left Port Canaveral on Thursday and spent Friday at sea rather than a call in Nassau. The ship skipped a second day in Nassau, visiting Freeport instead before returning to Canaveral Sunday.
