DNV GL to Class Crystal Yachts

MV Werften, Genting’s shipyard group, said it had contracted with DNV GL for the classification of the Endeavor-class yacht vessels for Crystal Cruises.

The contract includes three 20,000-ton mega yachts, which will be three of the first passenger ships to be classified according to the new DNV GL rules.

The Endeavor newbuildings will be the world’s largest expedition yachts with ice class, according to a prepared release.

They will be fabricated in Stralsund from 2017 and delivered to luxury cruise line Crystal Yacht Expedition Cruises starting in 2019. Being built according to the Polar Code with ice class PC6, the expedition yachts are designed for operation in the Arctic, Antarctic and also in the Tropics.

“The extensive experience in ship classification makes DNV GL a strong and reliable partner for us,” stated Guido Schulte, Vice President Design at MV Werften.
