Luxe Set to Disrupt Cruise Port Parking Trends

Luxe, a valet parking start-up, is looking to make inroads on the cruise port parking business.with an app-based business model.

In New York, the company has an attractive port parking offer for $160 for a week-long cruise, compared to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, which charges $40 per day ($280 for a week).

Customers can make their reservation from a few hours to a few months out.

A proprietary app monitors customers driving to the port, with a valet meeting them to pick up their car, which is stored in a covered and secured facility in Manhattan, according to Wilbur Araujo, senior operations manager at Luxe.

Customers then schedule a time for delivery on the app when their cruise returns, and their vehicle is ready and waiting.

“That $160 is all in, including valet service, parking, storage and taxes,” said Araujo, adding Luxe has agreements with parking facilities all over New York to City fill in surplus inventory.

“We want to make parking affordable for people that do not know Manhattan very well,” he added.

Similar to Uber and Lyft, the app offers a fully cashless transaction. Passengers can book the service online here.
