Albany: 11 Call Season Expected

The port of Albany in Western Australia expects 11 calls this season and another 11 calls next season, according to Gail Hastie, executive officer for the Southern Ports Authority.

Albany is centrally located, about 410 kilometers south of Perth, and offers passengers a number of highlights, including a newly opened National ANZAC Centre and food and wine tours.

When ships call, passengers can visit a number of public parks that host mini fairs on cruise days.

“On the main street there are a couple of nice public parks,” said Hastie. “Each time a cruise ship comes to town they are the setting for local people to sell their produce and products including local souvenirs, locally produced condiments and other assorted items.  These markets are proving to be very popular and they are enjoyed by cruise passengers and locals alike.”
