Known as the “Miami of China,” Sanya is located on the southern-most tip of the Hainan Province.

The continuing expansion of the Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal is set to be completed at the end of the year and has included an ambitious land reclamation phase to add twin berths for 150,000-ton vessels, according to a spokesperson. Supporting commercial development will commence in 2017.

A spokesperson said that the terminal’s major shareholder, China Communications Construction Company, is set to expand further in the cruise industry through purchase, acquisition or development – looking at everything from ships to ports.
