Trinidad and Tobago Notes 100k Pax Season

The 2015/2016 cruise season was a successful one for Trinidad and Tobago as Trinidad received 30,493 cruise passenger arrivals from 25 cruise vessels while Tobago had 70,298 passengers from 60 vessel calls – an increase of 115 percent over the 2014/2015 cruise season, according to a released statement from the Ministry of Tourism.

This information was announced at the Recognition Ceremony for Cruise Stakeholders held on June 29, 2016 at the Port of Spain Cruise Ship Complex.

The  Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Tourism, pointed out that the success of this past cruise season was attributed to the “aggressive marketing campaigns undertaken by the TDC in partnership with the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, the improved quality of the shore excursions, berthing facilities and piloting services as well as the excellent service rendered by the expertly trained and friendly Visitor Guides”

Cruise passengers from this 2015/2016 season also had a crime free experience, as indicated by the Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams, who explained that police presence in the downtown shopping areas and other strategic areas can act as a deterrent.

The upcoming 2016/2017 season will see 85 vessel calls between Trinidad and Tobago.
