Adventure Cruise Lines of Miami is planning the mid-1987 introduction of its new 570-passenger ship, to be built by Eastern Marine in Florida, after a preliminary design by Wartsila.
According to Regency Cruise Line President William Schanz, founder of Paquet Cruises and one of the founders of Adventure Cruises, the new ship will operate under the American flag, taking advantage of the less competitive market of domestic routes which are closed to foreign-flag competition, and the tax incentives offered to businesses holding meetings aboard ships of American registry. Potential home ports include Seattle and Hawaii.
Originally estimated at $24 million, cost of construction is now estimated at $30 million. This will be the largest ship ever built by Eastern Marine, and their first experience with cruise-ship construction.
