Maxim’s Gears Up for the Fourth

Maxim’s des Mers is on her way to New York to participate in the July 4th festivities. Estimated date of arrival in June 27.

The new ship was delayed at the shipyard, when the shipowners refused to accept an unconditional delivery from the French yard, and instead insisted on technical follow-up services and fine-tuning during the initial period of operations.

Maxim’s des Mers is carrying the original plaster mold of the the “grand lady’s” ear for presentation to the Statue of Liberty Museum in New York, and will represent the French throughout the centennial celebration…

Good Morning America will broadcast live from the QE2 during Liberty weekend, according to an announcement by ABC and Cunard. The broadcast will be transmitted over a four-day period, during the ship’s transatlantic sailing from Southampton June 26 through July 2…

Room Still Available in the Harbor

According to the latest Coast Guard advisory, there is still plenty of space available in the New York Harbor area for July 3 and 4.

The biggest problem may be the chain of 41 barges that are scheduled to attend – they are full of fireworks that will go off on the 4th and create the biggest cloud of smoke ever seen or experienced at the port.
