EffJohn Group Results

The EffJohn Group reported that reve­nues were up 17 percent in 1991 to FIM 3.4 billion (about $750 million) as a result of increased passen­ger volume. While operating income was said to have improved considerably, capital also increased with investments in new tonnage. Net operating income was reported to be FIM 4 million compared to FIM 30 million in 1990.

Effjohn operates some 20 vessels, of which 12 are owned. In 1991, The group carried nearly six million passengers, including 101,361 aboard Commodore Cruise Line ships, compared to 90,484 in 1990. Effjohn noted, however, that Commodore was not profitable in 1991.
