15% Commission

American Family Cruises has announced what it calls a “revolutionary commission program” designed to create equality among all travel agencies doing business with AFC. Effective immediately, all travel agents will receive an across the board 15 percent commission on all cruise-only straight rate bookings made and under final payment through December 31, 1994.

A sliding commission scale will be offered after December 31, 1994, whereby agencies can continue to earn up to 15 percent commission by accumulating points on bookings made in 1993 and 1994. One, two, three and four points are offered for each cabin booked in peak, off, value and super value seasons respectively. Thirty-four and more points will allow an agency to continue to receive 15 percent commission. Fewer points will eventually bring the commission down to 10 percent.

AFC, which has said that it will not be discounting, is offering two-sets of six different rates for large and small cabins, outside and inside, mini suites, and regular suites, for parents and/or children (two to 17).

However, during its inaugural year, AFC will offer complimentary three-day pre- or post-cruise packages including hotel and rental car, and kids cruise for free. In addition, families who book during the inaugural year are entitled to a 50 percent discount on their next AFC cruise within five years.
