SeaEscape’s 884-passenger Scandinavian Song will operate out of Port Canaveral beginning April 16, according to Peter Arevalo, CEO. The ship, formerly chartered by Danish Cruise Lines, will operate overnight voyages to Freeport, voyages to nowhere and Sunday brunch cruises. Telephone lines to Danish Cruise Lines have been disconnected.

However, in October, the tine’s 1,170-passenger Scandinavian Dawn will be repositioned from Port everglades to Canaveral. At that time, Arevalo said, the Scandinavian Song will begin roundtrip sailings from Mexico. In addition, Arevalo said that SeaEscape is presently in negotiations to possibly charter the Regal Empress as of October to operate in the Dawn’s place out of Port Everglades. The Regal Empress is Commodore Cruise Line’s Caribe 1, which will be returned to owner Fred Kassner on May 1 and will offer New England and Canada voyages thls summer. During SeaEscape’s bankruptcy in August of 1991, Kassner – owner of Liberty Travel and Gogo Tours – agreed to provide up to $1 million to cover SeaEscape’s losses. Arevalo would not confirm whether Kassner presently is a shareholder in SeaEscape.
