The World Delayed

Most recently intended for a Feb. 19 christening in Oslo, ResidenSea’s The World will instead be delivered from builder Fosen in Trondheim on Feb. 20, and will remain there until March 4 as final outfitting is completed. According to the company, the delay was necessary “to ensure that it (the ship) will comply with the ultra-luxury standards envisioned for the world’s first luxury resort at sea.” The World’s first port of call under the revised schedule will be Oslo on March 6, where residents will be allowed to move into their shipboard properties, while the first paying passengers will embark in London on March 12. The ship’s christening has been rescheduled to take place in New York City on April 19.

This marks the second announced delay of The World. The original one-month pushback was attributed to “a supplier-related delay in construction.”
