Oceania Cruises Opens HQ, to Start Service

After adding an “i” to their name to keep Princess Cruises’ lawyers away (they have the legal rights to the trademark Oceana), Oceania Cruises has opened headquarters in Miami.

The charter deal with CruiseInvest is done and the first of the former Renaissance Cruises vessels, renamed the Regatta (ex-R1), starts service in Europe July 5, followed by the Insignia (ex-R2) Oct. 4, after a $3 million refurbishment on each. Oceania’s reservations center is slated to open Jan. 27.

According to reports, 29 investors put $14 million into the venture, with CEO Frank Del Rio reportedly being the largest investor with $1 million.
