Carnival Corp. Provided Financing on Sirena Ship Transfer to NCLH

As the Ocean Princess departs the Princess Cruises fleet this spring, she will start a new life for Oceania Cruises as the Sirena, following an extensive refurbishment.

According to Carnival Corporation’s 2015 Annual Report, Carnival sold the 672-passenger ship in November of 2014 for a total gain of $24 million, but also provided financing to the ship’s new owners – Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings – in the amount of $66 million. The payments are semi-annual and run through November 2019.

Additionally, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ 2015 Annual Report lists the interest rate on the “Sirena loan” at a friendly 2.75 percent.

The sale price of the ship was previously reported as $82 million.
