Lido Deck on Eurodam Has a Unique Architectural Design

On 1 July, Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands will christen Holland America Line’s newest ship, the Eurodam. Once again the cruise line will put a ship into service to which Bolidt Synthetic Products and Systems was able to make a contribution. Before her christening, the Eurodam will be moored at her home port of Rotterdam.

The Eurodam is the first of the new Signature Class vessels and the largest Holland America ship to date. She is 86,000 tons, 285 meters long and 32.2 meters wide, and has 1,022 cabins, many with private balconies. The passenger capacity is 2,104 and the crew count, 929. In addition to well-known Holland America features like the Pinnacle Grill and Bar, there is the Culinary Arts Center with wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and personal cooking lessons, and the extensive Greenhouse Spa and Salon with thermal suites and a hydro pool. New onboard are the Pan Asian restaurant, which seats 144, the Explorer’s Lounge Bar and an Italian gourmet restaurant.

The Lido Deck around the swimming-pool on the middle deck, where many lounge parties will be held in the future, has been fitted with Bolideck Select Soft decking. This durable deck finishing has unique properties: it is UV resistant, non-skid, sound-proof and resistant to salt water. Furthermore, Bolideck can be applied in any design. For the Lido Deck on the Eurodam, a design of fresh aqua blue was developed with playful, partially open circles, in close collaboration with architects Yran & Storbraaten.

The cooperation between Holland America Line and Bolidt has continued for more than 25 years. Bolidt has applied decks on many of the line’s cruise ships, and each time the company (Bolidt) from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht in the Netherlands took care of the technical design, production as well as the installation. Once again, Bolidt has proven its strength as a reliable supplier during the construction of the Eurodam, the company said in a prepared statement. The Italian Fincantieri shipyard, one of the world’s largest shipyards for cruise ships, praised Bolidt for the accuracy and efficiency with which the quality deck was applied within the scheduled time.
