Celebrity Expands Expeditions

Celebrity Cruises’ Expeditions will get another new ship in October 2007 – the 710-passenger Celebrity Quest, formerly the Blue Moon (ex-R7). The ship will be transferred from Pullmantur Cruises, which had originally assigned her to sail year-round from Aruba.

In addition, the Celebrity Journey will join the line in May 2007. She is Pullmantur’s Blue Dream and was formerly the R6.

Both ships, which were built in 2000, will undergo a $35 million renovation during separate drydocks to add 32 new suites on each ship, entirely new bedding and soft goods, and a variety of Celebrity’s most popular signature elements.

The Celebrity Journey will sail seven-night Bermuda cruises from May through October, and will then move on to a series of 12- to 18-night cruises in South America and Antarctica.

The Celebrity Quest will launch service with a series of 12- to 14-night Caribbean cruises, calling at St. Barts, Guadeloupe, Dominica and the Turks and Caicos, followed by a series of 14-night Eastbound and Westbound Panama Canal itineraries, featuring calls in Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama.

Celebrity Expeditions was launched in 2004 with the 100-passenger Celebrity Xpedition which continues to sail in the Galapagos Islands.
