Holland America Line Announces Promotions

Holland America Line has promoted Gerry Topping to senior director, human resources – North America.  In this new role, Topping will direct the development and implementation of long-range programs and services that ensure the full utilization of Holland America Line’s land-based staffing, employee and labor relations assets to achieve the company’s aggressive organizational objectives.  This appointment is effective immediately.

Topping joined Holland America Line in March of 1996 and has worked as the director of human resources, land-based since that time.  Before joining Holland America Line, Topping enjoyed a rich tenure as a human resources professional having worked in an executive capacity at GENSTAR Corporation, Rhône–Poulenc Incorporated and management roles at Johnson & Johnson.

Topping holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Arts degree with emphasis in Executive Management from the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.

Holland America Line has promoted Jeff Beattie to senior director, human resources – seagoing.  In this new role, Beattie will direct the development and implementation of long-range programs and services that ensure the full utilization of Holland America Line’s marine personnel, employee and labor relations assets to achieve the company’s aggressive organizational objectives.  This appointment is effective immediately.

Beattie joined Holland America Line in 1995 as the director, human resources – seagoing, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Rutgers University.

Holland America Line has promoted Monica Desimone to director, tour accounting and administration.  In this new role, Desimone will oversee and prepare financial information for the tour companies, along with her duties as supervisor to the staff accountants within her department. This appointment is effective immediately.

Desimone joined HAL in May 1999 as a Staff Accountant for Hotel/Transportation/Tour Accounting. This marked the beginning of a long and successful string of promotions to management positions within Accounting and Information Technology. Desimone’s last position, Controller for Tour Accounting, was the culmination of highly successful stints in 2007 as Manager, Technical Planning in the Strategic Automation group of IT.

Desimone graduated from Seattle University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.
