Voyages of Discovery’s New 2016 Winter Season Itineraries

Vietnam, Malaysia, Mauritius, South Africa and Borneo are among the 32 destinations Voyages of Discovery has planned for its guests during Voyager’s late 2016 and 2017 season.

Voyages of Discovery’s program offers some optional extras such as an overnight safari at the Thanda Private Game Reserve during the South Africa Wonders and Wildlife cruise while the ship is in port or a two night extension at the end of the cruise to experience Victoria Falls.

“Voyages of Discovery’s Winter 2016 season has been designed to offer our guests the chance to get right into the heart of the destinations we are visiting in the Far East, the Indian Ocean, South Africa and the remote islands off the West African Atlantic coast,” said Colin Wilson, group sales director, All Leisure Holidays.

“We have added a huge range of options for our guests wanting to extend their vacation, be it relaxing on the beaches of Mauritius, a game drive in a private reserve in South Africa or city breaks in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong.”

“Being a small ship, Voyager offers a unique experience. You can step ashore in ports which mega-liners have to pass by; the ship offers a friendly atmosphere, with a more personalized service from the crew and the chance to take advantage of the excellent facilities without the crowds,” added Wilson. “In order for our guests to have the best possible experience of each destination visited we have carefully chosen a guest speaker program that will bring each cruise to life through the speakers’ knowledge and passion for every port of call.

Highlights of the winter program include an in-depth cruise down the coast of Vietnam, calling at six ports. The Culture and Colours of Vietnam begins with an overnight stay in Hong Kong on the Feb. 2, 2017 before heading to the first port of call–the awe-inspiring Halong Bay with its 2,000 stunning limestone karsts that punctuate the water. The cruise other ports of calls include Haiphong, Da Nhang, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang before an overnight stay in the port of Ho Chi Minh City, the 16-day cruise ends in Singapore on Feb. 17.

Voyager makes a return to Myanmar with the Colonial Capitals & Coasts of the Orient, which is a 15-day cruise taking in Singapore, Malaysia, an extended two night stay in Yangon, Myanmar with the opportunity to visit the beautiful Bagan Temples, before heading off to Sri Lanka.

The islands of the Indian Ocean are always popular with Voyager guests, and for 2017 Magic of the Maldives & Seychelles is a 16-day cruise stopping at the idyllic ports of Male, Kuda Bandos, Port Victoria, Praslin, La Digue and Port Louis to find exotic flora and fauna, diverse cultures and impossibly beautiful landscapes. With four mid-cruise overnight stays there will be time to embrace a taste of laid-back island life.

Voyager will be following the route of the famed Union Castle Line when she departs from Cape Town on her 22-day Southern Africa to Atlantic Isles cruise, which stays overnight in Walvis Bay, Namibia, prior to port calls at two of the Atlantic’s most remote islands St Helena and the Ascension Islands, ending the journey in Tenerife. The cruise embarks on April 1st, 2017.
