Major Companies: 216 Ships by 2022

The building pace for the major cruise lines will continue onward and upward. (Photo: Daniel Capella)A snapshot of the 2022 cruise industry from the 2015-2016 Cruise Industry News Annual Report shows the four major cruise companies maintaining their dominance.

Based on existing ship orders and brand transfers, Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Cruises, MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings will account for at least 216 ships by 2022. The four companies should have capacity for at least 25.7 million passengers, up from 180 ships and 18.7 million in 2015.
