Princess Announces Entertainer of the Year Finalists

Princess Cruises will soon crown the top guest entertainer for 2014 during the cruise line’s fourth annual Entertainer of the Year competition.

Four talented finalists have been carefully chosen from the vast array of onboard performers – including vocalists, comedians, magicians, tribute bands and other specialty acts – who delight guests each year, and will compete for the title during Princess’ upcoming Entertainer of the Year cruise.

Guests aboard Crown Princess’ March 14, 2015 Mexico cruise will be able to cast their ballot for their favorite performer after viewing several live performances from each act during the cruise vacation.

The four nominees for the title of “Entertainer of the Year” are:

Ben Seidman – Comedic magician Ben Seidman, the only person in history to be named the Resident Magician at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, currently stars in Magic Outlaws on Travel Channel and is a favorite at the world famous Comedy and Magic club in Hermosa beach, Calif., a headliner at the Catch A Rising Star comedy club, and a frequent performer at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. He was previously a creative consultant for three seasons on A&E’s Mindfreak, where he designed the illusions performed by Criss Angel. His energetic and playful performances combine stand-up comedy and world-renowned sleight-of-hand.

Lovena Fox – Vocalist Lovena Fox, who is also a gifted actress and songwriter, has worked with numerous well-known artists, including Bon Jovi. She performed on Broadway and played the role of “Sarah” in the National Tour of Ragtime and received the honor of being nominated best actress at the 2001 National Broadway Theatre Awards for that performance. Fox also won two Juno Awards for her lead vocals as part of BMG/RCA recording duo “Love & Sas” on four top-ten singles that reached number 42 on Billboard. Her triple-threat talent along with her ability to connect with audiences of any age leaves a lasting impression.

Steve Caouette – Comedian Steve Caouette’s talents have been seen in many TV commercials and performances in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Caouette has even performed in an opening act for former First Lady Barbara Bush. His act combines impressions, improvisation, sound effects and classic stand-up comedy. His sound effects will whisk you away to a babbling brook; make you feel like you’re in a lightning storm or in the depths of the sea in a submarine. Each exhilarating performance is fresh and unique, a little wacky, and is sure to leave audiences in stitches.

Christopher Watkins – Violinist and Entertainer, Christopher Watkins, has been taking the world and seas by storm with his arousing renditions of greatest hits from every genre of music. With his personally handcrafted Swarovski Yamaha violin, “Marilyn” – which boasts over 1,000 Swarovski crystals – he captures the heart of his listeners as he makes his violin sing. He is an entertainer on every level, showcasing his dance, fiddle and personality with his captivating and awe-inspiring performances.

“We look forward to showcasing these immensely talented performers during our fourth Entertainer of the Year cruise,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president. “It will be tough to crown just one winner, so I’m thrilled our guests will be the ones to cast their vote and choose 2014’s best onboard act.”

The finalists have been determined by the Princess Cruises entertainment department based on guest surveys and onboard audience response.

The winner, who will hold the title of “2014 Princess Cruises Entertainer of the Year,” will be announced on the final night of the cruise at a celebratory event in the Piazza and will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

Previous Princess Cruises Entertainer of the Year winners include comedian Carlos Oscar and vocalists Tony Tillman and Zach Winningham for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively.

The fourth annual Entertainer of the Year voyage will depart on March 14, 2015 aboard Crown Princess on a cruise to Mexico, and ports include Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. The seven-day sailing from Los Angeles is currently available for booking with fares beginning at $469 plus a $50 onboard credit per person, based on double occupancy.
