Last Saturday was a memorable day for the Port of Amsterdam, as the Celebrity Constellation called it a 2014 season and 63 total calls since 2006.
Onboard, guests attended a ‘reverse Plaque and Key ceremony’ in which the vice consul general of the US, Charles Hendrix, and the chairman of Amsterdam Cruise Port, Hans Gerson, thanked the captain and crew for the wonderful cooperation – and for bringing passengers and crew safely to Amsterdam since 2006, totaling some 290,000.
As the ship departed, the port choir bid the ship farewell along with a water salute and hundreds of blue and white balloons.
The Celebrity Silhouette is the successor of Constellation. As of 2015, the ship will have Amsterdam as her homeport for the Scandinavia and Baltic voyages.
