MedCruise Participates in EcoPorts Workshop on Waste Reception

MedCruise has announced that it participated in the “First EcoPorts Workshop on Waste Reception facilities,” organized by the European Sea Ports Organization (ESPO) in cooperation with Piraeus Port Authority, at the hall of Piraeus Port Authority S.A.

The Workshop focused on policy issues in the sector of ship-generated waste management, while port members of the ECOPORTS network, as well as MedCruise and Euroshore, the association of port reception facilities in Europe and beyond, shared their experience and points of view.

MedCruise President Stavros Hatzakos presented the existing waste reception facilities in MedCruise ports, based on data collected from port members as part of the association’s sustainable cruise project. Hatzakos also pointed out the importance of environmental management for the ports.

The workshop was attended by the general secretary of ESPO, Isabelle Ryckbost, as well as the representative of the General Directorate for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European Commission, Anna Bodo Remijn.
