7/1/08 - Holland America Looking to European Markets PDF Print E-mail
Holland America Line announced today it will soon have a Dutch-language version of its website, following the recent opening of a sales and marketing office in Amsterdam. According to CEO and President Stein Kruse,  Holland America is focusing on the Netherlands as an important source market for passengers, but will also look to source more passengers throughout Europe, including the UK.

Prices are set in local currencies for each maket, but onboard all prices are in dollars which makes purchases very reasonable. "Passengers are surprised at how little things costs onboard," said Micky Arison, Carnival Corporation Chairman and CEO, a press conference in Rotterdam, just prior to the christening of the new Eurodam on July 1. "We make Starbucks look expensive," he commented.

The Eurodam will be christened this afternoon by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands with 2,500 guests attending the pierside ceremonies.

Thirty thousands guests visited the ship while in Rotterdam, including past officers. The gala dinner following the christening will be replicated in restaurants throughout the city tonight for those who cannot attend.
